Personality: (At least one good sized paragraph)
There are 9 stitchpunks and each one contains a piece of the Scientists soul. 6 is the artistic and spiritual side. He sees the world differently than the others do. A part of that is the Visions, as they are called, which show him things to come. He draws near-constantly to try and make sense of all this. He knew of the symbols which were instrumental in their creation and what they would later be used for. In fact, he was obsessed with them and would draw them all the time. He knew they were connected to what he called ‘the source’. He also knew what happened to the stitchpunks who lost their souls. We do not know if he has visions all the time or only in dreams. It is difficult to tell because he is prone to ‘space out’ and become entranced by the simple act of drawing.
He often can not properly express what he is thinking to the others and sometimes it even makes him seem insane. It is, in part, this communication barrier that makes him keep to himself most often. The other reason is that he is simply does not fit in the same world that the others do. He sees too much to truly belong. But he does care for the others, and gets along well with those who have the patience to try and understand him. He has a close relationship with 5, who he clings to whenever he can and who he will play happily with if there is no danger. He is also closely tied to 2, who studied his drawings, and the twins who he can understand fairly well because of their many similarities. 1, however, thinks he is crazy and should be kept contained.
6 also possesses a childlike quality not seen in any other stitchpunk except for the twins. He can be captivated by simple things and see beauty were others hardly ever look. The drastic contrast between simple and complicated behaviors and thought patterns makes him seem like he has some sort of mental disorder. And maybe he does. But the fact remains that whenever he tells anyone to do something, he is always right no matter how insane and unbelievable it seems.
Though he is alone so often, he is not the type of person who would be happy completely alone. He is forced by his very nature to keep others at arms length. In many ways that is best, and he knows that, but he does not want to be cut off. He likes his fellow stitchpunks, and is affectionate when allowed. He fears being completely isolated and left alone forever … which is precisely what happened when he fell through the nexus point and wound up in another reality.
After his experience as a captive, much of his innocent enthusiasm has been diminished. It can be coaxed out again, but he is not quite ready to trust other people just yet. He hasn't even used his voice for anything more than quietly humming to himself in a long time. Being brought back from death was shocking enough, but winding up as a human in a world not destroyed by machines had been too much for him to handle. If he had been treated kindly things would be different, but he simply ran into the wrong people.
History, including how they encountered the Aegis Foundation:
The 9 stitchpunks were made by the Scientist in order to preserve the human soul and protect the future. He kept each of his creations with him for a short while before letting them out into the world. In his journal (which was made by the creators of the film and can be found online), he says that 6 just did not seem to fit naturally into the world. His unique view of the world set him apart and meant he would always, in some way, be alone, but he was at least able to express himself through art.
He was found by the others and they stayed together during the last parts of the war between humans and machines. They found an abandoned church to live in, and there they waited for the war to end and the machines to fall silent. Eventually, only ‘the beast’ was left. It was a smaller machine, made with parts of a cat’s skeleton, created to hunt their kind. 6 spent his days drawing, almost trance-like. He would draw many things, including the beast and the fabrication machine which he had never seen. But what he drew most often was the device. The tool that had brought them life.
3 and 4 left, as did 7, but 6 remained in their sanctuary. He stayed in a dark alcove, locked away by 1, until the day when 2 did not return. And 5 brought 9 back with him, to change their little world forever. After they had awakened the fabrication machine, 9, 7, and 5 returned in search of the answers they knew 6 may have. 6 tried to make 9 understand what he needed to know, but he couldn’t manage to say it in words that made sense. Before they could make much in the way of progress, they were attacked by a winged machine that had been sent to capture them. They survived, but their home was burnt to the ground.
They go to stay with 3 and 4, searching for the truth about the machines, but are attacked by another mechanical creation; the seamstress. This new monstrosity takes 8 and 7 away. The others chase it down, and 9 manages to save 7. They destroyed the factory, but sadly the fabrication machine survived. 6 saw it take 5's soul, as it had done with the others, and tried to run to it. 7 and 9 made him run away with them, but when the fabrication machine nearly fell from a bridge 6 stopped 7 from pushing it off. He told her and the others that their lost comrades were ‘trapped inside’. He did not fight against the machine when it grabbed him, but kept yelling his cryptic messages to the remaining stitchpunks.
His soul was taken, and there was nothing more he could do but wait and hope that 9 would understand. As for his body, it was dropped into a ravine … which lead directly to the nexus point. When his soul was freed, it found its way to his body which had been altered by the power of the nexus and he was revived as a human. Understandably confused and nearly frantic, he was quickly found by police who believed him to be an escaped mental patient. He was locked up, but when no record of him could be found he came to the attention of a certain secret facility which needed young patients for their illegal testing. They took him yet never got to even start their normal testing. In observing him and listening to his seemingly crazed ramblings, they discovered that the things he talked about actually came to be. Excited, they kept him in a separate section of the building and started not only running tests to try and determine how he came to have this ability but also trying to decipher his cryptic clues about the future. It's almost a shame that they didn't realize he was trying to warn them. But then, it worked out alright for him because the Aegis Foundation came and shut them down. If only it had been the filed agents that found him.
He received much better treatment at Aegis, yet their goals for him were still the same. He was kept secret from all other 'specials' and housed in a small two room apartment in the lowest level of the building. The door was always locked to keep him from getting out, and only his 'handlers' and their supervisor had access to the key code. He always knew he was being used, but couldn't do much about it. He could only take some comfort in knowing that his ability was helping to protect innocent people from terrible things. Still, it hurt him to be hidden away like some terrible thing.
Any Special Abilities and Notable Skills:
Six has visions. They come to him regardless of if he is asleep or awake, though they are mostly in dreams. He draws them so that he won't forget, and also so that they will not torment him. His visions give him important information on the future. It sometimes comes off as simple instinct, since he doesn’t know how to tell people what to do in any other way except pictures or cryptic messages. But when he does feel strongly about something, he is never wrong. This is true of people and situations too, because he was able to look at the Machine and know that there were souls trapped inside it which would never be free if it was destroyed.
Though his lack of fear in the face of danger can be very detrimental, to himself and others, it can also prove to be a strength. He is willing to take risks that others would not. He does this not always because he knows that he will survive, but because he knows it is necessary.
Writing Sample: (Third person, at least 150 words please)
They had brought him more ink. He'd known that fact even before he'd fully woken up. The smell of it was strong and sharp, it permeated the haze of dreams and drew him back to the real world. There was one thing about being here he had to admit; being human had its perks. In this form, he could smell and taste and feel things stronger than he had before. Even after all this time, over a year if he was keeping track correctly, it was still startling to him just how powerful those senses could be.
He crawled out of his bed, simply moving from the mattress to the floor since nothing stood in between the two, and let his stained blanket fall away uncaring. By now he didn't even have to guess about where his goal would be. They always put fresh paper and fresh ink in the same place. He quickly pulled a fresh piece of thick paper in front of him and uncapped the large glass jar of ink. His pen was right where he'd left it. He had quite a few of different sizes, but this one was his favorite. This was a calm day, so he would use it again. The stained metal became coated in glossy black ink and he swept it across the page in graceful arcs. Nothing pressed at his mind right now or strained for his attention, so he let himself fall back into an old ritual. Circles and dashes and careful marks, so familiar and so very old … they didn't like it when he drew this over and over but he didn't care. This was his, they couldn't take it away.
Do you understand that this game is serious, and that horrible and unfair things might happen to your character?
Ooh yes indeed, and it's nothing new.
